The composition of phospholipids which comprise vesicular and cellular membranes is dynamically regulated, and phospholipid metabolites such as free fatty acids (FFAs) and lysophospholipids (LPLs) generated during this regulation are emerging as key players in neurotransmission, learning and memory.
